Aiken County residents can grab free trees at drive-thru event — Augusta Schools news

AIKEN, S.C. (WRDW/WAGT) - Aiken County residents can pick up free trees Friday thanks to “Keep Aiken County Beautiful.”The group, with help from an Arbor Day Foundation grant, is handing out trees starting at 4 p.m. at Oakwood–Windsor Elementary School on Charleston Highway in Aiken.Trees are first-come, first-served, until they’re gone. There’s a limit of two trees per adult, and they’re between four and seven feet tall. You must show a South Carolina ID to prove you live in Aiken County and sign a liability release on site.Staff ask drivers to stay in their vehicles and form a single-file line, parking on the right side so other cars can pass on the left.Possible varieties include apple, pear and plum trees, but specific types aren’t guaranteed because only a small number are left from a previous giveaway.
