AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The Augusta Junior Players performed “Painless: The Opioid Musical” for free Thursday night, a show meant to raise awareness of opioid addiction and recovery through original music and true stories. The performance was the last of three.Roy Lewis, artistic director for the Augusta Junior Players, said the subject is personal on many levels.“It’s very close and personal on a lot of levels. And for our young folks, middle school and high school students, to understand the weight and the magnitude and the devastation that it causes, not just on them as young people, but also on their families as a unit,” Lewis said. The hope is that raising awareness among young people can help everyone find a solution.Anyone who knows someone struggling with addiction can call the national substance abuse hotline at 866-210-1303.
