EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Evans running back Brycen Gault has had an incredible season. He’s rushed for more than 1,000 yards, the first Evans running back to do so since 2021. He also plays cornerback, has two pick sixes and is on the field for almost all 48 minutes. But he’s playing for more than just himself.Evans, coached by Lee Hutto, is one of the area’s youngest teams.“We start anywhere from 10 to 11 sophomores,” said Hutto, head coach of Evans football.Gault has filled the much needed leadership role on a run-first team.“I used to be a quiet guy coming in, but I’ve stepped into that role knowing that young guys look up to me and I have to be that role model to them,” Gault said.Football has been Brycen’s dream since birth. He looked up to his older brother, Robert, who was 10 years older and played both ways for Greenbrier in 2016.Gault’s mother, Lakeya Collins, said Robert gave Brycen a football when he was about 8 months old and taught him the game.“It was their bond,” Collins
