AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - Morgan won the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year title and a $20,000 scholarship.Eight finalists competed for the scholarship. More than 500 people attended the Youth of the Year gala. News 12 helped with the event, and Zayna Haliburton and Sydney Palmer were there.Martez Favis, vice president of operations at Boys Girls Clubs of Greater Augusta, has been involved since the beginning of the process. He said all eight finalists are already winners.Favis said the difference in the finalists between July, when they turned in their paperwork, and November “is just leaps and bounds.” He said the exposure the finalists get is invaluable.“The fact that our kids get this exposure early on is going to put them ahead of the game when it comes to college interviews, when it comes to being able to write essays for college, being able to speak in front of groups of people,” Favis said.
