Thomson fights for playoff life as 8-1 Hephzibah visits the Brickyard

THOMSON, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - In the final week of the high school football regular season, one play or one drive can define an entire campaign. That postseason urgency takes center stage Friday night at the Brickyard, where the Thomson Bulldogs (4-5) fight for their playoff lives against the region champion Hephzibah Rebels (8-1).For head coach Michael Youngblood and the Bulldogs, Friday presents an opportunity to salvage a roller-coaster regular season and punch their ticket into the Class 2A state bracket.“Some things hadn’t gone the way we would like them to go, but that’s OK,” Youngblood said. “We’re still in the hunt to make the playoffs, still in the hunt to make a playoff run. Kids are still showing up, kids are still working hard, and that’s all you can ask for as a coach.”Standing across the sideline is a rolling Hephzibah squad that has already locked up the region crown. Despite having little to prove in the standings, head coach Daniel Dorsey’s Rebels are chasing history, aimi
